Profile
Lycée Bon Soleil Gavà
Lycée Bon Soleil Gavà is an apolitical and secular establishment. It trains its students without any discrimination and is defined by its independent, humanist and European character.
Founded in 1969, LIB Bon Soleil is a centre approved by the French Ministry of National Education and Youth (MEN), by the “Ministerio de Educación”, as well as by the “Departament d’Educació de la Generalitat” . It is also authorized to offer the IB (International Baccalaureate) program diploma.
LIB Bon Soleil aims to ensure the comprehensive education of its students. This mission involves developing among them not only a culture and knowledge, but also teaching them an intellectual method based on a rational and critical approach, on autonomy and experimentation. We train our students to become global citizens, to develop their full potential, whatever their needs and abilities.
Languages
The vehicular language of the school is mainly French, but as an establishment with an international vocation, LIB Bon Soleil bases its educational and linguistic project on multilingualism. Children start learning Spanish, Catalan and English from the Petite Section (Kindergarten). They first acquire an oral basis and later approach written language before deepening the study of these languages in the other cycles. For French-speaking and non-French-speaking students, immersion in the language they know the least is progressive. Mastery of the new language also relies on the acquisition of linguistic skills in other languages.
Location and Facilities
Our school is located in Gavà, just twenty kilometers south of Barcelona, in a privileged environment, surrounded by nature, on the edge of a pine forest. Two kilometers separate the establishment from the sea. We have 30,000 m2 of outdoor space, six multi-sport fields and an indoor swimming pool (small and large pools) for physical education and sports activities. Students not only have specific play areas for each age group but also a vegetable garden .
The school occupies a plot of land of 40,000 m2 on which four buildings, totaling 10,000 m2, have been constructed. They include five science laboratories, two media libraries, a technology room (equipped with 3D printers), a music room, a visual arts room and an auditorium with a capacity of 225 people.
Nutrition
LIB Bon Soleil has its own kitchen to prepare 1,500 meals on site, per day. We are aware of the importance of nutrition and the acquisition of healthy habits in children and young people, which is why we choose fresh local, organic products preferably to create balanced menus following the advice from a nutritionist. We also offer vegetarian menus and menus suitable for any type of food allergy or intolerance.

This includes ‘Second’, ‘Bachibac’ and ‘International Baccalaureate’
‘SECOND’ CLASS AT LIB BON SOLEIL
The second general and technological class is a diagnostic class which includes lessons common to all students and optional lessons to choose from.
In second grade, the Lycée international Barcelona Bon Soleil implements multiple actions to develop an orientation project for each student:
Orientation tests and development of a portfolio;
Discovery of sectors of activity;
Presentation of the IB and Bachibac courses to students and families (exchanges with 1st and 2nd year Bachibac and IB students , conferences, interviews, etc.);
Discovery of the subjects taught in Bachibac and IB (course observation);
Participation in Barcelona activa;
Participation in the Bon Soleil Campus orientation day;
Participation in round tables led by former students;
Individual interviews with students and families
Students then proceed to Bachibac or IB
The Bachibac is a program which allows the simultaneous delivery of the French baccalaureate and the Spanish bachillerato .
In addition to Bachillerato subjects, there are subjects specific to the Bachibac curriculum: French language and literature as well as History of Spain and France .
WHAT IS THE MIXED PROGRAM?
The mixed program, which represents a third of the student’s weekly timetable, integrates into each year content considered essential for knowledge of the language and culture of the other country. Thus, it is possible for Bachibac students to obtain the Spanish Baccalaureate and the French Baccalaureate Diploma.
SUBJECTS OF THE SPANISH MIXED PROGRAM
The specific subjects of the mixed program that Spanish students must take as part of the Bachibac are French language and literature and the history of Spain and France, the latter being taken as part of the history of the Spain at the second baccalaureate. Both are taught entirely in French and their content is subject to the external Baccalaureate examination. Thanks to the mixed curriculum, students are expected to acquire a level of French equivalent to at least B2 of the CEFR, while becoming familiar with and adopting working methods that lead to greater personal autonomy. For this reason, the weekly timetables of the two subjects – French Language and Literature and History of Spain and France – are generally increased by one hour.
In order to complete the weekly timetable which must be followed in French (one third of the total), other non-linguistic subjects may be taught in French, but they are not subject to external examination.
French language and literature
This mixed program subject goes beyond strictly linguistic learning, since it aims to educate students from a global perspective that promotes respect and intercultural communication.
The approach to French language and literature is based on a monographic theme, using readings selected for their suitability for all Bachibac students.
History of Spain and France
This subject deals with a joint vision of the recent history of Spain and France within chronological limits which, as far as external evidence is concerned, covers the period from the mid-19th century to the present.
Gradually, students acquire the resources necessary to analyze and comment on events in the history of Spain and France based on original documents.
Thus, without neglecting the content of the history of Spain in the 2nd baccalaureate, the parallel study of the history of France provides students in the Bachibac program with an in-depth understanding of today’s world.
TO OBTAIN THE BACCALAUREATE DIPLOMA, TWO CONDITIONS MUST BE FULFILLED:
· Be able to obtain the baccalaureate diploma.
· Pass the external competitive exam at the end of the 2nd year of the Baccalaureate.
