Carrer Bonaire will be closed to vehicles from August 9. The street could previously be accessed via Carrer de Sant Josep, but from August 9 a semi-automatic bollard will be placed at the corner of Carrer de Sant Josep and Sant Gaudenci, to prevent the passage of vehicles going downhill from from Carrer de Sant Josep. As of Monday, August 5, work will begin to signal this change on public roads.
People who have private parking spaces on Carrer Bonaire can continue to access them from Paseo de la Ribera, where they will also have to exit.
The Councilor for Mobility, Jaume Monasterio Miró, announced that that “we are recovering spaces in the town for people, with a focus on mobility that places people at the centre. Our aim is to reduce noise and pollution, and at the same time to make walking around the town safer”.
This action follows the guidelines set out in the Sitges Mobility Plan and the Mobility Master Plan 2020-2025, expanding pedestrian zones and restricting the circulation of polluting vehicles for the benefit of sustainable and healthy mobility.
