In the last week of June, shaded areas equipped for people with reduced mobility will be installed on the municipality’s nine blue flag beaches: Les Botigues, Garraf, Aiguadolç, Balmins, Sant Sebastià, la Ribera, Estanyol, Barra and Terramar. These areas have an awning, amphibious chairs and crutches for the assisted bathing service, which is also handled by the rescue staff. It is not necessary to request an appointment in advance. People interested in the assisted bathroom must contact the service managers directly when they want to use it.
The rescue and lifeguard service performed 57,635 preventive actions on the beaches of Sitges in 2023. Throughout the season, 2,493 services were provided, 1,500 of which corresponded to minor interventions and 91 to serious interventions. There were also 38 water assists and 95 rescues.
