Story details
Sitges Pride has been named one of the top 5 LGBTIQA+ Pride events in the world by CNN, National Geographic, and others, and was recently ranked by the Lonely Planet travel guide as one of the 12 best places to celebrate ‘Pride in Europe.
This year the Sitges Parade, under the slogan #sitgeslovesyou, invites visitors to show their “true colours” and claim Sitges as a haven for the LGBTIQA+ community and a welcoming destination.
The Mayor of Sitges, Aurora Carbonell, points out that “Sitges is considered a diverse and welcoming town that defends the rights of the LGTBIQ+ community throughout the year, as well as the equality of all people. The celebration of Sitges Pride, considered a benchmark throughout Europe, allows us one more year to have the ideal platform to call for tolerance and respect for individual rights”.
The highlight of the event will be the Pride parade, which will take place on Sunday, June 9, at 5 p.m. in Passeig de La Ribera. The route will have 19 floats and more than 2,000 participants. The departure point will be the Kansas restaurant, from where it’ll go in the direction of La Fragata, returning along Passeig de la Ribera until it reaches Hotel Calipolis.
