Story details
1st August 2024
From this month of August, two tourist information agents will walk the areas with the highest number of visitors in Sitges, to answer questions and provide information to those tourists and visitors who need it. This is in addition to the central tourism offices (located in Plaça Eduard Maristany s/n and Can Milà).
The mobile information service will work from Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm from August 1 to October 13 (the last day of the Sitges Film Festival), coinciding with the high season and periods of major events. The staff will be easily identifiable; equipped with tablets with internet access; and able to serve visitors in several languages.
The Councilor for Tourism, Xavi Ripoll, remarked that ‘the aim is for the high quality and up-to-date information available at the tourism offices to go beyond the usual channels and reach more visitors and tourists. Sitges is always trying to improve and this brings us in line with other leading European destinations’.
This service is launched following the publishing of the document ‘Tourist Information Strategy for the Local Tourist Offices of Sitges’, which foresees a series of improvements in the operation of the tourist offices, and presents a road map for their organization, management and operation.
According to a 2023 data report, the Sitges tourism offices are a fundamental element in a travel cycle which is seeing visitor numbers increasing year after year. In 2023, the number of users served by the tourism offices was 59,935, an increase of 24.80% over 2022. By nationality, users of the service are mainly Spanish, followed by French, British, Americans and Argentines. The main topics of interest of users of the service are heritage and monuments; museums and exhibitions; transport; and local events.
