Bon Soleil Lycée Gavà

Bon Soleil Lycée Gavà is an apolitical and secular establishment. It trains its students without any discrimination and is defined by its independent, humanist and European character.

Founded in 1969, LIB Bon Soleil is a centre approved by the French Ministry of National Education and Youth (MEN), by the “Ministerio de Educación”, as well as by the “Departament d’Educació de la Generalitat” . It is also authorized to offer the IB (International Baccalaureate) program diploma.

LIB Bon Soleil aims to ensure the comprehensive education of its students. This mission involves developing among them not only a culture and knowledge, but also teaching them an intellectual method based on a rational and critical approach, on autonomy and experimentation. We train our students to become global citizens, to develop their full potential, whatever their needs and abilities.

Languages

The vehicular language of the school is mainly French, but as an establishment with an international vocation, LIB Bon Soleil bases its educational and linguistic project on multilingualism. Children start learning Spanish, Catalan and English from the Petite Section (Kindergarten). They first acquire an oral basis and later approach written language before deepening the study of these languages in the other cycles. For French-speaking and non-French-speaking students, immersion in the language they know the least is progressive. Mastery of the new language also relies on the acquisition of linguistic skills in other languages.

Location and Facilities

Our school is located in Gavà, just twenty kilometers south of Barcelona, ​​in a privileged environment, surrounded by nature, on the edge of a pine forest. Two kilometers separate the establishment from the sea. We have 30,000 m2 of outdoor space, six multi-sport fields and an indoor swimming pool (small and large pools) for physical education and sports activities. Students not only have specific play areas for each age group but also a vegetable garden .

The school occupies a plot of land of 40,000 m2 on which four buildings, totaling 10,000 m2, have been constructed. They include five science laboratories, two media libraries, a technology room (equipped with 3D printers), a music room, a visual arts room and an auditorium with a capacity of 225 people.

Nutrition

LIB Bon Soleil has its own kitchen to prepare 1,500 meals on site, per day. We are aware of the importance of nutrition and the acquisition of healthy habits in children and young people, which is why we choose fresh local, organic products preferably to create balanced menus following the advice from a nutritionist. We also offer vegetarian menus and menus suitable for any type of food allergy or intolerance.

Kindergarten

The nursery school welcomes students aged 2 to 6 , from the Petite Section (PS) to the Grande Section (GS). and is part, with the elementary school, of the primary school.

Nursery school is the first step in students’ journey to mastering fundamental skills – reading, writing, counting and respecting others – at the end of elementary school.

The pace of the day is adapted to the age of the children. Individual and group activities are followed by rest periods (relaxation, nap, etc.). These ritualized times are designed and organized by the teaching team as educational times in their own right. They provide reassuring benchmarks for young children and promote their physical, emotional, social and cognitive development.

Elementary School

The elementary school welcomes students aged 6 to 11 over two cycles (cycle 2 and start of cycle 3) and ensures the acquisition of the fundamentals: reading, writing, counting, respecting others.

At LIB Bon Soleil, we pay particular attention to the school ambience. Creating a pleasant atmosphere and guaranteeing respect for everyone are essential points within our establishment. To do this, we have different mechanisms: peer mediation, friendship benches, debates, discussions, assemblies. In addition, our students from CP to sixth participate each year in a programme against school bullying in order to promote awareness of the relationship between emotions, actions and values. Work on the recognition and management of emotions, self-esteem, altruism, group cohesion, respect, communication, teamwork, resilience, social networks is therefore fundamental.
