Interview with Lisa

Read our interview with Lisa, a business owner from the UK who has lived in the area with her family for eight years

How long have you lived in the area?

3 years in Castelldefels and then 5 years in Sitges

Where are you from originally?

Essex,  UK

What made you choose this area?

We felt that Sitges has a more chilled vibe than Castelldefels

Do you live in town, in an urbanisation or in the countryside?

Llevantina, one of the urbanisations that is walkable into town

How does living here compare with other places you have lived ?

I definitely feel like I am on holiday at the weekends. I love that I have many beaches to choose from, all a little different from each other, plus the Port and the Garraf national park, all on my doorstep.

How do you and/or your partner make a living here?

We have our own business.

What activities do you and/or your family do in the area? Can you recommend any of them?

My son plays football for Sitges near Aiguadolc; we go to all the matches. I would definitely recommend joining. Sometimes we do a little paddle surfing at Club Mar, lovely there but expensive to be a member.

What are the best things about living here?

The weather, the food, the scenery.

What do you know now that you wish you had known when you arrived?

I think you should give all restaurants a try, some that don’t look great are… and vice versa.

Do you have any favourite restaurants in the area?

Tarantana for the set menu is good value for money and great quality food. Francesco’s and FOC for Pizza; Petit Bangkok and Kinkao for Thai; and the port has some great places to eat and have a sundowner.

If you have kids, do you have any recommendations for schools in the area or other relevant experiences you would like to share?

I would recommend BSB 100%

What advice would you give to anyone considering relocating to this part of the world?

Try and get all your paperwork sorted ASAP, pay someone to help if necessary. Learn the language, spend decent money on lessons.
